Callers

Dan Preedy

Dan grew up with a square dance hall in his back yard and began square dancing in  1968 learning from his father Dale and his uncle Cloyce. In a desire to follow in his  fathers and uncles footsteps Dan began calling in 1975 and has never looked back.   Dan has been the club caller for the Star Shooters square dance club in Spokane WA.  for 30 years. He calls Mainstream through C1 and maintains a healthy program at  home. He has served the Spokane Callers League as President, Secretary and new  caller/apprentice chair. Dan is currently the President of Spokane Callers League. He  is an accredited member of Callerlab and serves on the Mainstream, Plus and  Advanced committees. Dan calls in over 20 states and Canada calling many state, and  local festivals and specials. Dan and his wife Dora run three successful summer  weekends in the Pacific Northwest each year. He was blessed with the opportunity to  be the featured caller for the Hawaii State Festival 10 times including the last one that  was organized and run by the Hawaii Federation Dancers in 2013. Dan has taught a  new dancer class every year that he has called knowing that the new dancer is the  new life of the square dance activity. He also conducts caller’s seminars introducing  prospecting new callers to the art of square dance calling. Dan and his wife Dora were  married in July 2015 and between them have seven children: Devon, Sydnee, John,  Logan, Cody, Shelby and Samantha. Dan looks forward to seeing you and calling for  you! 

Buddy Weaver

Buddy Weaver started calling in 1977 while still in school, living in Honolulu, Hawaii.    He is a third generation square dance caller who lives with his family in San Diego,  California. Buddy became an accredited member of CALLERLAB in 1981 and is currently  Chairman of the Music Producers Committee.  He is an experienced coach in the art of  calling and has done seminars in the United States, Japan, and Europe on many  square dance calling subjects.  Buddy also writes a monthly music review column  along with an article on making square dancing better for the dancers.  His articles appear in the American Square Dance magazine and the Northeastern  Square Dance magazine.photo Buddy has been active in the Square Dance recording industry since 1981, with over  300 vocals released.  He is producer of Blue Star and Hi Hat Music - the largest  Square Dance Music company in the world.  Buddy Weaver is the first American caller to teach and call in post-cold war Poland and  the first American caller brought to both Tasmania, Australia and Takagawa, Japan for  a square dance festival He has called numerous times in Japan, Denmark, Sweden, Holland, Germany along  with twenty-nine United States.
